Belly Boat Bassin’

Belly Boat BassAfter some house chores I spent a couple of hours on a local lake fly rodding from my belly boat. I’d forgotten how much fun these things are. I was able to access some water that is rarely fished on an otherwise busy lake. I won’t even begin to tell you about the fish that got away because you’ll never believe me. At least I do have a picture of the first bass I caught before I put the camera away.

Today’s catch made me curious about Ohio state record fish so I looked them up at the ODNR web page. Below are a few highlights, or you can find all the details here ODNR Ohio State Record Fish.

Largemouth Bass, 13.13 lbs. 25 1/16″, farm pond.
Smallmouth Bass 9.5 lbs. 23 1/2″, Lake Erie.
Bluegill, 3.28 lbs. 12 3/4″, Salt Fork Resevoir.
Carp 50 lbs, 40″, Paint Creek.
Steelhead, 20.97 lbs., 36 1/2″, Lake Erie.
Brown Trout, 14.65 lbs., 29 1/4″, Lake Erie.
